Looking
back over 2004:
EMOTIONAL THERAPY 2004
This course continues to attract good numbers of students to the Foundation Course. The Foundation Course is open to anyone who wishes to work with its concepts for individual development or to understand more about the emotional life of clients whom they see in other therapies. It is also and primarily for those who wish to train to practise Emotional Therapy.
In November The Foundation held an Assessment weekend for 13 students who had successfully completed the Foundation and Intermediate Stages of the course. All of this group passed successfully into practising membership and are busy setting up for private practice. We really are seeing the results of 15 years of dedicated work for this unique Foundation.
We are also pleased to report that the plans to put the course forward for UKCP validation are progressing. It is a slow process in that those who are preparing the paperwork are all volunteers who work full time as well and we are determined that it shall be presented to the highest standard possible. We are proud of our Foundation and of the therapy which continues to attract so many clients and who tell us how good it is!
Supervision News
At the time of writing, Mo Purser has almost completed the supervision course and she has worked phenomenally hard. The results are going to benefit the Foundation and its quality of supervision. Already Mo has been able to validate the power of the work she has done through her supervision of individuals for the course work as well as bringing insights to bear in group work.
Training News and Emotional Therapy as a Vision
The founders of Emotional Therapy, Sheila Ward ( ) and the Hon. Alice Critchton were visionaries and keenly desired that this therapy should be available to all who sought it. With the prospect of new trainers who will themselves have worked through the entire training programme as students and had experience with clients, the vision of greater availability will be well on its way. The foundation is to interview five potential new trainers and then to offer training for those who go forward to undertake the programme. It is hoped that new trainers can take the training programme further afield, particularly into the north of England where interest is to be found but distance can be a barrier over the longer term. This too, is an exciting development in the history of Emotional Therapy.
The Spirit of the Inner Child
The focus of Emotional Therapy upon the spirit of the inner child and its healing is proving to be very meaningful to people from all walks of like today as well as to all age groups. It has powerful healing potential .leading to the idea that more and more of us are aware of the need to look within before looking outward to healing others, the world or planet!
The Intermediate Course
This course develops many of the major concepts introduced on the Foundation Course and aims to provide the students with further skills and knowledge to understand how Emotional Therapy can be used as a therapy with clients. The course consists of two aspects, workshops and case study days. The workshops are self contained and are also available to anyone who has an interest in the area being covered on the day, for example, Inner Child, Visualisation and Imagery, Dreams and many others. We welcome anyone who wants to attend, whether out of personal interest or coming from another therapy background. There are many people who do this and who se perspectives enrich the day.
As principals and vice principals of this college, we aim to facilitate the growth and development of Emotional Therapy both as a training course and as a therapy. Between us we see many clients and numbers are growing as people become aware of this work. Anyone who is interested in the course or in receiving therapy is welcome to contact us for further information and to receive a brochure.
As reported in the first newsletter, the new course has been introduced and the first students in our Region have taken the Introduction Course and Stage 1 of the Foundation Course. This course involves the keeping of a portfolio of on course work and individual work between the courses and full healer membership. As trainers we were both impressed and delighted by the enthusiasm of the group for this new approach to healer development, We had great fun filing the provided notes and working with the exercises and worksheets. It was a first for all of us and we all rose to occasion! Stages 2 and 3 follow next year and meanwhile all of the students plan to join one of our local support groups to follow up their course experiences as well as to gain the full support of other probationer healers and the full healers who lead the groups.
Region 8, as we are known, is an active, lively Region spread over five counties or areas: Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Herefordshire. We are proud of our support system and in region contacts. Everyone has the potential to develop their natural healing ability so if you feel you would like to know more about this, why not join the Introduction to Healing Course and see if this is something you would like to take further? Contact us for further information about Spiritual Healing and courses available in Region 8.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
(CHAMPISSAGE)
Established by this College in 2003, the third course is completed and the fourth about to begin later in the new year, The course is proving to be very popular and we plan to provide a fifth course in the Autumn. Students have varied backgrounds and experience of complementary therapies. All of them are unfailingly enthusiastic and positive and the standard of work is high. Some take this work into various work places as a very good stress relief, others add it to private practice with their other complementary therapies. Still others take it up for use with friends and family and like the fact that they can take the course without having to take the end of course examinations.

This time last year, fifteen students were receiving the good news of their results. The tutors were delighted with these results and as reported in the newsletter, they were excellent. Well as we write, we are delighted to report on the similarly excellent results of a further fifteen students. The commitment and enthusiasm of all of our students is amazing. Many of them have demanding full time jobs or have actually let go of financially rewarding jobs to commit to this course. The story we regularly hear
is that of a search for something more meaningful, fulfilling and giving in/to life as opposed to the corporate life most of them have experienced. It is the story of journeying and the journeyers know that it is not a soft option. Whilst standards are high amongst these students, so is the level of mutual support and friendship. One of the things which strike us as tutors is the beauty and value of the individual project work, worth publishing somewhere! Another is the student’s willingness to see the wider picture of Aromatherapy in all it’s aspects.
In November ten more students enrolled on the Diploma Course and are currently focusing on Sandra’s Anatomy and Physiology course.
(NB What Sandra did not say in the previous newsletter is that the outstanding results achieved by students in A&P is in no small measure due to her teaching which is well organised, skilfully taught and fun, I should know, I did this course! Natasha)
Course brochures are available for all of the above courses from Jane or Natasha and there are additional courses and workshops which are offered just because they can contribute to the different personal development requirements or interests of everyone.
For example, Further Healing Development for Spiritual Healers, a two day, ‘get away form it all’ workshop on ‘Love’ and ‘Meeting with Angels’ for all who need a change of scene! We also plan a monthly evening with dream work. These are exciting times for these foci.
